Our Services
The Journey
Launches in 9th or 10th grade.
We start gradually with planning classes and creating a sustainable, fun high school life. The pace is relaxed as we navigate extracurriculars, academics, class selection, internships, study habits, journaling, and life. We ask the big questions, “why do you want to go to college? What are your passions and interests?” In the 11th grade, we transition into college research and list building, writing, career research, test prep, exploring gap years, and pre-college summer programs. Includes coaching and connections to internships and career coaching and shadowing. We strategize about prep for the SAT and ACT. By the end of summer, the common app essay is done. By the fall of senior year, our foundational work is mostly complete. Now we can focus on the applications, college visits, and basic financial aid work to meet those November Early Action deadlines. Students are finshed in time to enjoy the holidays and the final spring semester of senior year. We stay with you until all negotiations and final decisions are made. Pay what you can on a sliding scale 3,000-6,000$
2 Year
Starting in September of Junior year, covers each and every step… we begin in relatively high gear and cover career research, planning class schedules and testing dates, SAT prep plans, and diving deep into building college lists. Includes connections to -and coaching applications for- internships, as well as career exploration and job shadowing. We break down finances and affordability. We narrow The List down to 10 by the end of the year and have started on essays before summer. In 12th grade, it’s all about applications, essays and revisions, test strategies, dates, and meeting those November Early Action deadlines if you choose to. We stay with you until all negotiations and final decisions are made. Pay what you can on a sliding scale: 3,000 – 5,500
2026 Senior Year Special
STARTING no later than October 15th, senior year.
No it’s not too late, but let’s get busy. I’m game if you are!
In two family meetings and five one-on-ones with the student we will do the following: Create our college list, full brag sheet, open up your Common App account, do the FAFSA, finalize the list, research, and get that Personal Statement essay done in 3 drafts- and we’ll submit applications as early as November.
Priced to be accessible
575$
Hourly Option: Maybe you just need some help with a few things. Essay support? Maximizing the very important “activities section” on the Common App or UC site? Maybe you just want help making your list and need my expertise on the differences between Boston University and BC, or U.Dub WI. and U.Dub WA. What schools have 3 and 2 programs for nursing?
Perhaps you need help finding internships with a startup, (I partner with a few companies that can help) or applying to summer sessions. For any of this and more, I offer an hourly rate on a scale of 75$-100$, with a minimum of five hours.

Why Choose Us
We’re Parents Who’ve Been There
Navigating the journey to college can feel overwhelming. We’ve experienced it firsthand as parents, so we understand the stress and uncertainty. That’s why we’re here to simplify the process and empower students to take charge of their own path.
Student-Centered, Not One-Size-Fits-All
Every student is unique, and we believe their college path should be, too. We embrace the “maverick” approach, recognizing that there’s no single best way to get to college. Through our guidance, students explore their strengths and potential, uncovering the best options for themselves—which often means learning about great schools that had flown under their radar.
Finding a Home, Not Just a School
College is just the beginning of a lifelong journey, not the end. Our mission goes beyond “getting in.” We want each student to find a campus where they feel they truly belong, a place where they can grow and thrive both academically and personally.
Giving Back to Open Doors for Others
At Maverick Campus Quest, we’re committed to creating opportunities for all. (Yep, that’s me at The Game in New Haven- great day, big loss…)
We donate 4% of our fees to the College Advising Corps, helping break down barriers for historically marginalized students. We also offer pro-bono services to first-gen students in our community in North Vegas in under-resourced but amazing public charter schools.
FIND YOUR
OWN PATH,
BE A MAVERICK
I founded Maverick College Quest because I felt this process could be more than finding a great fitting school. I wanted to make the process one of learning, joy, and discovery. The college search is a labyrinth; now you have a guide on the side. I have seen students really change, thrive, and develop in this journey, and I think you can, too. Frequently Asked Questions
What are the most important factors in college admissions?
Grades, test scores, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation are typically the key factors. However, when I am on the road talking to admissions folks, they also tell me this: they want to really get to know the student, who they are, beyond the test and grade data. That’s where Maverick comes in handy- helping the student reveal that in their authentic voice. We help the student tell their story in a compelling and authentic way.
How important are standardized test scores?
When should we start the college application process?
How many colleges should my child apply to?
We painstakingly create a list of 20 exciting campuses that will be a great fit. Then the student narrows that down to 10-12. The schools will range from Dream, to Probable, to Likely- but every single one will be a good fit- we don’t believe in applying to a “safety” just because. Maverick clients apply to the whole range- ivies, service academies, smaller liberal arts schools- big name state schools- it’s all about fit and balanced lists!
What is the best way to prepare for college interviews?
Not many schools do in person interviews, but we can prep you for those that do. Video submissions are getting more and more popular as well, we help with those too.
How can we afford college?
We explore all financial aid options like scholarships, grants, merit aid, and student loans. It’s a huge investment, so like buying a house, it’s a wholistic process. What’s the neighborhood like? What’s the value and ROI here? At Maverick, we don’t wait until the acceptance letters come in to talk about money. We start right off the bat with open and frank dialogue with the whole family.
How can we help our child choose the right college?
This is what Maverick is all about. Parents can be as involved as they want. Some prefer to stay out of it almost totally, but others enjoy it when the student and Maverick assign them short and attainable tasks. The choices are tough, but at the end of the Maverick journey, we hope that the student has a lot of options- and all good ones!
